Jung Hyun - February 10th
Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is one of Korea’s biggest holidays. The entire family gets together usually at the oldest family member’s house. Koreans celebrate Lunar New Year by playing traditional games and consuming  traditional food, such as Dduck-gook. Dduck-gook is basically a rice cake soup with other ingredients in it as well like beef and egg. Koreans consume Dduk-gook as celebrating to adding another year to their age. One of many traditional games include Yoo-nori, which is a Korean board game where each person takes turns and throw the stick (as if it’s a die) and go forward or backward depending on how the sticks land. The first person to go around wins.

Around Our School
Dong Sung High School's Trophy Case

And today, Ill post about another place of our school. If you come to our school, youll first met inclined hill from gate to entrance of building. What I want to introduce it the thing which maybe you enter the building, catch your eyes first.

First, at the left of you therell be many trophys, and if you wander what the trophys content about, just look at the left of you. Then, as you can know about the picture posted above, youll find theyre trophys about Taekwondo. Before I come to high school, I didnt know that many schools have specialized class to educate students who decided to major physical, mucial activities and art. So in case of our class, we have Taekwondo class,

Except the thing they come to school early and absent morning class (maybe from first class), they attend all the class like us. Whats interesting is that all of them scattered in science class. Cam you guess why? To do more powerful kick by using physics? Well, thats just why science classes have less students than liberal classes. However, since they face down and sleep during all the classes, Most of teachers and sudents just neglect them. But just show your mind want to get together, theyll be your friend just like normal friends.

And Im close with my class Teakwondo student. Because I come to school early, somethimes I could met him, and according to his talk, everydays of their school schedule is filled with hard training. So thats not strange of them, sleep in all classes. Nonetheless, he said to me that, looking us studying, do hard exercise is much bette than that. I think criteria of happiness is relative thing. :

Around Our School
Dong Sung High School’s Soccer Field

Picture Taken 2 Years Ago
Yes! Here is our schools ground, but if you see that more clearly, you can find something strange. This ground has form of soccer field, but there arent goalpost!! Why there arent?? In fact, this picture has taken 2 years ago, when this artificial grass layed just right. So this picture is maybe the first picture of our schools ground after layed.

As well as, we can get more information about our school, Can you guess what is that building which at the right of the picture?? Well, that isnt property of our school, But that is part of school, DongDuk women school. Though, there is another part of school. Can you see something in the bush? Maybe, I think you cant. Unless you go to there or have great eyes. Anyway, nearby our ground, there is university for priest. I dont know about the system of that, but at least, pre-priest(?) who belong to Seoul section should come to there and fullfill the degree which is composed of seven-years system. And maybe dormitory is near to ground.

Thats just my imagine but, by any chance if someone graduate our schools priest process and come into that dormitory, wont he miss his high-school life seeing ground?(If he has great eyes :D) The size of ground is umm... about width and height both 200meter? I think thats not big, since when lunchtime there arent big enough to play soccer.

김수영 - A Day in the Life

Hello! My name is “김수영”, but it doesn’t mean swimming. Before start to talk about my daily life, I’ll introduce about me a little. As you know I’m Korean high school student. Especially, I’m grade 3 and that means I must study hard to go to university. Maybe in Korea, all of students’ final goal would to go best university. Because of bias that if we go to good university, we will be able to work in huge company(like samsung), furthermore stable life with happy family.

Anyway I’ll talk about my daily. Since now is winter vacation, I’ll tell about nowadays. Monday 6 a.m. I wake up by alarming, and go to bathroom to wash my hair and brush my teeth. After then, go to school by subway. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Class begin from 8, but if I take subway to fit then, I have to go with so much people. Anyway arive to school, I do my homework then. As time goes by friends come one by one, but most of them fall asleep on desk as soon as arrive. Schedule are set 50minutes and 10minutes recess, time table is like this ; 1 English 2 Math 3 Korean 4 Science(which one we selected before among physics, geology, biology, chemistry). Originally, we should self-studying to 10p.m. but many of us go to Hagwon, which is private education institute. In my case, I go to there only on weekend from 5;30 to 8;30. At there, we take classes and ask about what we don’t know, but the main reason why we go to there is because of they make us study strongly. Our parents like that :D.

So, finally after school, I enjoy my short free time such like check facebook or kakaotalk. And do jump-rope from 12;30. The main reason to do that was to be tall but nowadays I do it to sleep well. After shower and drink a cup of warm milk. then go to bed directly.

After five times cycle of life like above, finally weekend comes! Saturday is the day when I sleep like bear. I wake up when I like to. Then go to library, I don’t know whether library means where to study. Anyway, I go to library near my Hagwon. My Hangwon is math specialty. Science class, on that point, math is the most thing. And extremely hard, insomuch put most of study time. Well, after Hagwon, I go to bed early, maybe 11 to 12. Sunday is starting with mass, yes, I’m Roman Catholic, so go to church from 8;30 and go to library and Hagwon like the day before.

You may think my life is too routine, yes, I agree and many of us hate our daily cycle. I was scared, As long as I study a lot and get good grade, could I live my rest like? Aren’t there any other ways to be get a good life? But as I get older annually(even I’m young now). I realized that somehow I’m happy. Though studying is so hard, I have many good frinds(leave more times than family), and at least I have meal. Students want to change this society, but perhaps when they get older, they compelled to live this society whether they want or not. And I think complaining doesn’t change anything. Community isn’t the target of argue. Probably, it’s the thing like baby, who we should take care.

Welcome!
